PAIN BLOCKING THERAPY
Grundy County Pain Care Center is unique in the area for providing a multi-disciplinary approach to pain including traditional medical pain management in addition to providing a variety of types of therapy which have powerful pain relieving effects.
Frequently, our patients tell us that by using the "Best of Both Worlds" approach, that this is the best they have felt in years. Our approach to pain is that we strive to find the cause of your condition and provide you with strategies to correct your problem rather than merely treating the symptoms.
SPINAL MANIPULATIVE THERAPY
Physical trauma and accumulated micro-traumas such as poor posture and muscle imbalance along with mental stress and inadequate nutrition may cause pressure on the nervous system and interference with the brain-body connection resulting in chronic pain and slow or incomplete healing. Injury or chronic stress on the muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves can be treated effectively by improving proper mechanics in your spine. The concept behind spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) centers around mobilizing or realigning the vertebra of the spine to remove irritation to vital nerve structures and free them to control various body functions and maintain the health of the muscular, skeletal and nervous system.
Physicians in our office use various forms of spinal manipulative techniques depending
on patient needs. We offer both traditional chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation techniques including gentle, specific "no cracking" types of adjustments. Spinal manipulative therapy alone or in conjunction with other therapies can effectively and quickly remove pain and inflammation, restore energy and improve mobility.

PAIN REDUCING THERAPY
Grundy County Pain Care Center offers a wide variety of High-Tech equipment to assist with
rapid resolution of your problem. We offer: Interferential Therapy, Micro Current Therapy
and Russian Stimulation. Interferential Therapy and Micro-Current Therapy which can be very effective in providing pain relief, reducing swelling, spasm, muscle weakness and for nerve stimulation. Russian Stimulation can help improve muscle strength, coordination and flexibility. It is also effective in maintaining normal muscle tone and strength when patients are unable to actively exercise for themselves. It helps speed pain relief while minimizing the
chance of re-injury months later.
Other forms of therapy include Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) which provides a portable source of electrical stimulation for patients who are in pain and cannot be seen in the office due to job or travel commitments. Other valuable services include: ultrasound to improve deep tissue circulation and speed the healing process, Hot and Cold packs and the Chi machine/infrasound which provides low frequency sound therapy similar to the Chinese practice of Qigong healing.

IONTOPHORESIS/PHONOPHORESIS
These revolutionary treatment methods successfully provide relief for many painful conditions like inflammation and bursitis. Using a potent anti-inflammatory medication/gel compound with high frequency sound waves, phonophoresis painlessly guides the medication to the painful, inflamed area, providing penetrating relief.
Iontophoresis incorporates magnetism and polarity to direct a topical medication to the problem area while also providing the pain relief of electrical stimulation. Patients report that they commonly see improvement in as little as 3-12 sessions. THese treatments can repidly reduce swelling and relieve pain. They can be used in conjunction with other modalities depending on your needs.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger points (also known as Pressure Points), are localized areas of muscle spasm and
buildups of metabolic waste products which irritate the nerves in the area and affect the blood supply and oxygenation of the region. Many people are unaware that trigger points contribute to their symptoms and limits their mobility. Likewise, stress, improper exercise, and poor diet can cause trigger points. Through a careful detailed muscular, skeletal and nerve exam, our doctors have great success in locating and eliminating trigger points and improving their patient’s health.
MASSAGE THERAPY
This hands-on healing art, practiced for thousands of years throughout the world, offers dozens of health enhancing benefits that can play an integral part of any wellness program. Some therapeutic uses include lowering body stress, reducing muscle spasm, improving blood circulation, increasing lymph flow, calming the nervous system, reducing pain, and increasing energy levels. Our certified massage therapist offers many techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, pressure point, and therapeutic massage.
SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY
A nonsurgical method for reducing or correcting back pain. DTS therapy involves focused traction to the site of a damaged disc, rehabilitation for the supporting structures and overall
strengthening of global musculature. Heat, muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and cold laser therapy can offer additional benefit for inflammation and spasms in the supporting spinal muscles. Combined with home exercise and periodic office visits, most patients experience long-term back pain relief.
SYMPATHETIC THERAPY (STS)
This is a method of pain care that stimulates acupuncture points located in the hands and feet utilizing a unique form of FDA-approved electrical stimulation to treat chronic, intractable pain. Patients undergo a course of daily clinical treatments for two to three weeks. Those who respond well may be prescribed a home unit for ongoing therapy, and pain control sympathetic therapy is one of several electrical modalities used a GCPCC.
PROLOTHERAPY
A nonsurgical method for regeneration of ligaments and joint tissues that have been damaged by use, trauma or arthritis. Prolotherapy involves the introduction of a "sclerosing" agent such as sugar water at the ends of ligaments, which causes a tightening or stabilizing effect to occur in the involved joint, oftentimes resulting in the reduction or elimination of pain and inflammation.
